What is unarmed combat?
Unarmed combat covers conflict that is characterised by short-duration and sudden violence, taking place at close range and in a confined space. Skill in unarmed combat means the ability to defend successfully against both unarmed and armed attackers. Unarmed combat is also commonly known as CQB (close quarter battle), CQC (close quarter combat) and hand-to-hand combat.

Life or death
Unarmed combat is often a response to an unexpected or surprise attack. This means that there is a very small margin for error and can result in a life-or-death situation. Speed of reaction, mentally and physically is essential. Physical reactions must be honed to act instantly without thought.

Expert security consultants typically charge fees of between £250 and £1000 per day. By teaching this as a group course, limited to 15 attendees, we are able to deliver outstanding value for money. For 5 days tuition from Si-Fu Julian Hitch, of up to 8 hours training per day, the cost is only £450 per person.

At the end of the course attendees sit a short written test, followed by a test of the skills developed under pressure.
