Good morning.
I thought I would bring attention to something I came across in a newspaper the other day. I have to confess I am not overly keen on newspapers as such; they are far too often the harbingers of doom and gloom, frequently focusing on the unpleasant or negative aspects of life (which in itself is an interesting is a reflection on humanity – see below).
In contrast to what I have stated above, the article I am referring to was a positive one, particularly in the realm of martial arts. The article referred to research results published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine by the scientists at the University of Toronto. It showed that high-intensity exercise, taken regularly for more than a year, can make someone as fit as a sedentary person who is 12 years younger. While this is not particularly surprising, it then continued to say that it ‘can help to make you look younger’ as the volume of oxygen we are able to consume is reduced with age, and therefore to maintain health, and the appearance of youth, more aerobic exercise is required. Other studies have shown that maximum aerobic power falls by up to half between the ages of 20 and 60 in men and between 35 and 60 for women.
It certainly gives another good reason to study martial arts. Now all we are missing is an independent report which proves that the more hours you train the better looking you get

Ps on the topic of newspapers I know of a recent instance where an editor of a newspaper decided for one week to dedicate the whole paper to only reporting positive news. The result of this – it was the worst sales in the newspaper's history. You might find it interesting to ponder on actually why this should be the case…
