Good morning.
I would like to mention an email I unexpectedly received a few weeks ago from a student who recently joined the school. Some of this text can be seen on the
Home page. In brief it concerned a student who had only been training in the class for a couple of lessons and successfully applied the principles and techniques to a dangerous situation. I have drawn attention to it as it shows an apt illustration of the art to others. For other new students (indeed, taught about this very topic in class a couple of weeks ago) it just shows what you can achieve when you combine the art of Wing Tsun with belief and courage.
I would like to say thank you to the student who emailed me. Its an unfortunate fact of life (not just martial arts) that people normal only ever contact you when there is something wrong and never when you do something right! It also shows that all the hard work the instructors and I put in makes a tangible difference – something which is always nice to see.
As people who read my blog will be aware, I believe that art of Wing Tsun has far more to offer than simply physical prowess or fighting techniques. However, that being said, Wing Tsun is an outstandingly effective art and its training can mean the difference between life and death. Indeed, I have to say this is also why I am teaching the seminar later today…
Practice hard and follow the principles of Wing Tsun – you never know when you might need them.

Ps. I also just heard yesterday that one of the students who is only 13 managed to defend herself against someone who threw a punch at her. Not only this, but she knocked the person out! This student is also only a beginner…
