Good morning.
If the weather is anything to go by, 2012 will be an interesting year – from warm sunshine to torrential rain in the space of a day!
The schools will resume teaching again after the Winter break tomorrow. The first class of the year takes place in our Bromley School, and will be taught by myself. I am pleased to say that students from all the schools are invited to attend this training at no extra cost; the Dulwich and Victoria Schools will commence as normal on Thursday.
The Winter break is a far from quiet for us. The teachers use this time to reflect on where the school is and how we can improve it, for both the students and the reputation of Chinese Wing Tsun. Some of these developments are more visible than others; students visiting the Bromley School will immediately notice many, which I hope they will take a moment to enjoy. It is important that students have a very special environment for training and learning. A martial art school should be an oasis – a place where each person can free themselves from daily stresses, relaxing whilst at the same time focusing on improving themselves.
At the end of last year students were given a membership pack, which includes a whole range of useful information. I have to say that these of the highest quality; even the world’s most successful law firms do not use such materials. There will be a few additions to be picked up, and if you have not already received your pack, please speak to one of the assistants.
Finally a number of additions have been made to the teachers, particularly in the Bromley School. On each night there is now allocated a fixed teacher. Whilst this was normally the case, the preparation for China meant that the schedule was rather unusual. Regularity of teachers is important as students need to develop a relationship with the teacher and this can only happen if it is someone they can know and trust. The teacher is there to help and guide students, so please do feel free to approach them if you have questions, concerns or need advice. I am delighted to say that my most senior teacher, who has been a student of mine since I was 17, will now be teaching regular senior classes. Combined with numerous other talented and experienced teachers students have a lot to be excited about.
Speaking on behalf the teachers and assistants, I can say we are all looking forward to returning to teaching and seeing the students again. For us, there could not be a more perfect start to the year
