Good morning.
Last night a new chapter in the history of Wing Tsun was begun when the first ever full-time Chinese Wing Tsun school in Western Europe was opened in Bromley.
While the official opening takes place in September (more details on this special celebration to come), this was a moment for the students to come together and see the fruition of all their hard work. While there are still on-going refurbishments, the main room is finished. Decorated according to the traditions of Wing Tsun, the pictures and paintings are illuminated by the ‘natural daylight’ spotlights. The entrance to the hall is by two 150 year old Chinese doors, and antique carvings from a Buddhist temple in China adorn the walls…
As fitting tribute to this occasion, the first day of the summer seminar also took place. If you didn’t attend you missed out; techniques from Biu Jee were practised along with punching combinations that were taught to me by my Sifu in private. The seminar continues for the next four days and will cover never before seen kicking combinations, an evening dedicated to elbows and a day on both defence against multiple assailants and Wing Tsun sparring. All students that have the possibility to grade this weekend are strongly advised to do so; you won’t have another chance to do so at a moment like this…
Wing Tsun has finally found its spiritual home in Western Europe…
