Good morning.

Today I had wished to continue with the theme of my previous post. I will do so later this week, this post instead being a brief interlude on the very English topic of the weather.

Like most other people, I woke to sight of brilliant white snow everywhere. As anyone who is trying to travel will be aware there has been an almost complete shutdown of all public transport across the county. Up to 1ft (30cm) of snow has fallen in the South-Easy alone causing many of the airports and schools to be closed. Even in London there are no trains and buses, the first time since 1991 that the UK has been so badly affected. And the weather that has come from Scandinavia and Siberia is set to continue for the next few days at least…

In between all these bewildering facts there is one brief message that I would like to give at this time: just pause for a minute. There is enough negativity at this time. Don’t focus on what you cannot do today, and how hard it has made your day – instead reflect on what it has given you. You have been gifted a time for reflection and a short break in what is normally a frenetic week. Remember, your time and attitude is always what you make it. Perhaps the snow is nature’s way of telling you to stop and listen to the serenity of the world and admire its beauty for just a moment …

And finally, if you need any further proof, just look at the faces of all the children when they first saw the snow this morning. The look of sheer joy and excitement is, in itself, enough to make this day an excellent one…

With regard to the classes tonight, they will all be running (just stay in touch with in case there are any slight alterations from normal) - it takes more than weather to stop Chinese kung fu teachers  And of course, those hardy students that make the effort to attend will certainly find it worthwhile…
