Grading preparation

Greetings.

The classes this week are dedicated to grading preparation and recapping the material that has been taught for the last 2/3 months. It is advisable that all students attend at least one of the classes this week as it will be covering a lot of ground.

As readers of my blog will be aware, I believe that grading plays an important part in the development of the students (see previous posts for more details), so the teachers will also be speaking to the each student as to what is the suitable level for them. To make sure that the situation is clear about the grading, no-one is permitted to enter for a grading that they are not sufficiently prepared for. I have to say it is the opinion of myself and the teachers that count in this matter, not that of the students. The teachers and myself not only monitor the students progress on an on-going basis, but we have numerous discussions and meetings as to what the appropriate level each student should be. Of course, it goes without saying, that just because a person enters for a grade it does not mean that they will pass it. Their success is down to their attitude, aptitude, ability and effort on the day, along with any syllabus requirements.

Each student can be sure that they are ready for a grading if one of the teachers permits it – the reputation of Wing Tsun is too special for a person to be put forward without prior pre-grading appraisal. Remember, it is not the grade itself that matter, but what it stands for that counts… If any student is unsure of what is required of them please make sure that you ask the teachers.
