Good afternoon.
One of the most important skills as a teacher is to be able to get the most out of your students. It frequently means changing the way in which you normally teach to make sure that each student is able to grasp the concept involved (note, however, that this does not mean changing the concept). I will write more about this at a later date, particularly as I will be running a specialist teacher training course for those students that have been selected on the 15th and 16th of this month.
One method I do want to briefly mention is that of sending each student a weekly sms. Sent at the beginning of the week this details the subjects to be covered in the forthcoming lessons, along with any important notices. As I have been teaching to the students this week, the most profound development in Wing Tsun happens when you think about what you are doing – rather than simply turning up, training and then going home. You need good teachers who understand the art in order to be able to progress, but equally you need to be able to take responsibility for your development. This does not mean spending every waking minute thinking about Wing Tsun, but rather gentle reflection and preparation in order to make the best out of your time. The weekly sms is simply one way in which we try to help our students achieve this.
If for some reason you are not receiving the weekly message please email the school with your mobile number, or speak to one of the teachers in class.
