Intensive training

Good afternoon.

In about 6 weeks I will be teaching a specialist 5 day unarmed combat course for the Close Protection and Bodyguard training company that I am associated with. I am extremely fortunate to be assisted by some of the leading close protection trainers, who have not only extensive military and practical experience but excellent teaching skills. There is a webpage which covers the essence of what will be taught (and if you would like to know more about my association with the company, please read my earlier posts on this subject).

The course will encompass a wide range of topics, some of which I have taught at seminars. The difference, however, with this course is the sheer amount of training that takes place, and that I will be teaching the tactics, principles and applications that are taught to the Special Forces in Eastern Europe – many of which have never been taught to civilians before. It will cover areas from simple unarmed combat to defence against weapons and defending yourself in enclosed spaces such as cars etc.

The training will be for 8 hours a day, with the tuition taking place at the company’s headquarters - a specially equipped and designed full-time centre. Because it is such an intensive course it will be residential to allow the students to make the most of their time. The focus will be on practicality and efficiency (which, as all the students should know, are founding principles of Wing Tsun) and the aim is to completely retrain your nervous system in a short amount of time. Each student that attends will significantly improve their speed, power, co-ordination and automatic reflexes. This is in addition, of course, to their greatly enhanced unarmed combat skills. One of the most significant areas that we will be teaching is the ability to defend a friend or loved one (or in the case of bodyguards, the principle) from attacks. As I have written before this is one of the rarest skills to acquire; it means being able to control more than one person at the same time, whilst nullifying attacks aimed at another person. I can honestly say I do not know of anywhere else that teaches this effectively.

The course will finish with a short written exam on the most important principles, theories and strategies. This will then be followed by a physical exam where all the techniques learnt will be pressure tested to ensure that they are able to apply them. Students that are successful will receive certification.

I have to say that I am really looking forward to the course – the development of the students is going to be absolutely phenomenal. Existing students will be able to take their skills to a level they would never think is possible (and is available for all levels of students.). However, it is suitable for both the general public (male and female). If you know someone that you think would benefit from an intensive course (and maybe does not have the time to attend regular training) please do pass the details on to them.

I should point out that apart from my Sifu, I do not know anyone who has taught this many hours in such a short period of time. You would be extremely lucky to find professional teacher, of any level, that would be prepared to teach for this duration. I can tell you personally both how tiring, and rewarding this is, having taught 50 hours of private lessons in the space of only 5 days. Again, apart from my Sifu, I am not aware of anyone else who has indeed taught such intensive hands-on training. What also makes this exclusive is that I will personally be teaching students of all levels and abilities. As you may or may not know, I normally only teach advanced students or instructors. The students that attend will be able to ask me questions as we go along.

What I also want to say is this; if you are interested I would not waste the opportunity. It is unlikely to come up again, particularly with such expertise in the tuition. I have just been informed this morning that there are not many places remaining – the course is also being advertised nationally, so there will be quite strong competition for places. It has also now been limited to only 10 people. If you would like to know more about this course, please email the school with you details and a member of the training team will be in contact with you.

P.s. the course may also be of particular interest to those that wish to become teachers, or simply those that wish to ‘fast-track’ their skills. There will also be a discount of 10% for all existing students.
