| Good morning. The details about the Montenegro trip in July are now being finalised (for the revised dates see Calendar of Events). I chose the location of Montenegro because, having visited fairly recently, I found it be both beautiful and rather undiscovered. Although it will be busier when we are going (being holiday season) the place where we will be staying sits between mountains and the Mediterranean, setting up a spectacular backdrop. And as I have mentioned before Wing Tsun and nature have a special relationship… The trip is, in essence, an opportunity for 10 students to spend a week with me, immersing themselves in the art and having 6 day ... | | |

| Good evening. I would like to thank the students who have contacted me, saying how much they enjoyed the recent seminar. Being a master can be, in many ways, a trying and difficult position (potential teachers take careful note…). Just because you have the best interests of the students at heart does not mean that it acknowledged or even appreciated (in fact I have come to expect the opposite). It is nice to know that this is not always the case | | |

| Good morning. I would like to say a few words about the recent weapons defence seminar. Personally, and as always, I found it a thoroughly enjoyable affair. The words of one of the more senior students perhaps sum it up the most effectively: ‘when Sifu said that it was going to be extremely intense at the beginning, he wasn’t exaggerating…!’ Discussing the seminar afterwards with the teachers, we feel it was perhaps the best yet. It is hard to ascertain exactly why (and I know I say this after almost every seminar), but there was a certain feeling present that made it the case for me. Perhaps the deciding factor for me was the actual change I could see in the students by the end of the seminar. I don’t me ... | | |

| Good afternoon. A reminder to all students that the schools will be closed for the Easter Break until the 19th April. After an extremely busy first part of the year, I’m sure that this rest is well-deserved for students and teachers alike… However, students who wish to have extra training during this period may be able to have private tuition if they ask the Si-Hings/Si-Meis nicely… Sifu | | |

| Your responsibility… | | Si-Fu's Blog

| Good morning. Last night I visited both the Bromley and Dulwich schools. My main aim was to make sure that all the students were clear on the purposes behind the grading and the seminar. However, it was also brought to my attention that last year a few students were not aware that they would be missing out if they did not attend the weapons defence seminar (and apparently the same happens after most the seminars). Personally, this is a view with which I have very little sympathy – the schools give notice of the seminars at the start of the year, they are published on this site, and regularly mentioned in class as well as brochures being sent out about them. Short of coercing people to attend (which is both highly inappropriate and extremely shor ... | | |

| Good evening. Continuing the theme of my last post, I would like to give more details about the forthcoming seminar on defence against weapons that will take place between the 2nd and 5th April. I do not wish to repeat completely what I have already written so I would advise those who have not done so to read my earlier post written on the 18th February 2008. Although all the seminars are intense, over the past years this has perhaps been one of the hardest: there is a very small margin for error; the odds are against you; and even more than normal, the techniques must be ingrained into your nervous system. | | |

| For real... | | Si-Fu's Blog

| Good afternoon on this beautiful sunny day. I would like to mention an incident involving one of my students that was recently brought to my attention. I won’t mention this person by name, but I thought that the matter was sufficiently important to be made public. Last week, when walking home in the evening, this student was confronted by three men. After an initially ‘innocent’ dialogue (a signature of this kind of attack), they proceeded to try to steal the student’s belongings. At this point the attacker proceeded to pull a knife out of his pocket. Reacting instantly, and with one movement, the student both stopped this happening and knocked the attacker unconscious with a single punch. The other two wou ... | | |
