| Good morning. I would just like to add a short note to my last post. It appears to me that the current trend of focusing on the business potential of teaching, almost to the exclusion of the martial arts, is essentially a product, and the fruition, of the current capitalist and business orientated society. If some of the core values of business are not that of the martial arts (i.e. modesty, self-sacrifice and standing for principles even at personal expense) it takes a lot of willpower to co ... | | |

| Good afternoon. Recently I have been teaching a brief history of Wing Tsun and it has come to my knowledge that this is completely undervalued by students and masters alike. This is perhaps for a number of reasons, but the biggest problem, in my estimation, is that people simply don’t know why they need to know about the history.

| Greetings on this quintessentially English day. I was recently asked by a student about the requirements for attending my instructor class on a Saturday, so I thought I would say a few words about it. Firstly it is a separate class from the normal weekday ones and is only available by personal invitation by myself (and on recommendation to me by the Si-Hings and Si-Meis). Oddly enough attendance is not dependant on the individual level of the student. Of course it is not appropriate for beginners – but far more important than any grade or skill level is the person’s attitude. For me the Saturday class is for those who want to go deep into the art of Wing Tsun. As I have stated before, this goes further than simply learning self defence ... | | |

| Good morning. Im very happy to say that Si-Hing Robert Zajac has joined the instructor team. He has been a private student of mine for quite some time, as well as a regular attendee at my instructor class. After a period of intensive training with myself Si-Hing has decided to take Wing Tsun to a higher level. Si-Hing is both liked and respected by the students and he has a lot to offer Wing Tsun, both in experience and knowledge. I look forward to working closely with him - Im sure he will be an excellent representative of both Chinese Wing Tsun and me. Sifu | | |

| Good afternoon. I would like to continue the topic I started in my last posting. In particular I would like to discuss a little the idea of ‘mixed martial arts’. I have to start by saying im not a particular fan of the concept. I suppose this must be due, at least in part, to my belief in the importance of tradition. However, this is not the main reason for my view. I would like to emphasis at this point my aim, as always, is not to belittle other arts (something I sincerely detest and disapprove), but simply discuss the topic and promulgate my view. My first problem with this as an overall concept is the feasibility. Every martial art has its own theory, principles and strategies. This is to say nothing of the different cultu ... | | |

| Good morning. Alas I have not been able to catch up with my posts as hoped. I have had many topics that I have wished to discuss in the last few weeks; unfortunately I have not been able to find the time to post them. Hopefully this week will be a little quieter and I can rectify it. On Saturday I taught my special instructor class. As always I had a lovely time teaching, but this day I was particularly pleased. All the seniors trained extremely hard for 3 ½ hours with no break. By the end of the class everyone looked like they had been swimming and the room was full of steam, even though the window was open! Th ... | | |
